Winston Welch, Principal

 

Winston has been working in the Association Management & Meetings, Conferences and Events fields for over a 15 years, organizing and producing conferences and events worldwide, in North America, Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. Prior to starting Diamond Head Group, Winston was Executive Director of the World History Association for seven years, a non-profit organization which promoted the study of world history, and prior to that been the Executive Director of the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival. Winston also has worked in sales in the leisure travel market for Hilton and Wyndham, and has represented publications specializing in health, wellness, and authentic Hawaii experiences. Prior and concurrent with these positions, Winston has enjoyed many years as a college and adult educator in the US and abroad.

 

Winston's MBA in International Management prepared him for working in the global environment, and he is as comfortable in Kyoto as he is in Brussels, Honolulu or Sydney. He holds additional credentials as a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from ASAE, A Certificate in Meetings Management (CMM) designation from GSBA, and completed the Certified Festivals and Events Executive from IFEA. Winston is also Founding President of Hawaii Rainbow Chamber of Commerce.

 

Winston is most delighted with his work when he sees people brought together for events and meetings where the participants come away with a rich experience and deeper connection to life. 

 

 

Richard "Rick" Romer, Event Designer Extraordinaire

 

Richard has been designing for the stage, film, television, and events in Honolulu with decades of experience. You have seen his work before which includes design sets from Magnum, P.I., LOST and the new Hawaii 5-0 to the opening of the Hawaii Convention Center among many other events and displays. Richard relishes in designing unusual, unique and "difficult" projects using his varied experience and training to exceed your expectations...but not your budget.

 

Richard's Design Philosophy:

 

"My mission has always been to create the most innovative design with the highest quality execution. Hollywood standards require an excellence and a standard that I maintain in all my work. Originality is always first, your brand image enhanced, your focus and visibility increased, and your design problems solved. Never having thought 'inside the box,' creative solutions are resolved on any scale."

 

Richard brings in his own team of talented, creative artists and craftspeople with a wide range of unique skills to create the most spectacular, unique, and affordable project for you, including managing or installing your existing design when appropriate. 

 

Richard is a founding member of the Set Decorators' Society of America with many film and television credits in set, art, and production designer. Jackie Wah, Expert in Organization, Details & Design

 

Jackie brings considerable organizational and design talents to Diamond Head Group. Not only does Jackie possess a sharp mind for ensuring every detail is covered, but she also brings an enormous sense of style and design flair to work. Jackie's humor and kindness radiate through all she does.

 

A graduate of the Parson School of Design in New York, Jackie has had a wide-ranging background of design and production to artists' management to website and graphics design to excellent customer relations management skills.

 

Jackie also possesses a keen sense of what will 'work' in a situation, and uses her considerable life and people experience in all situations. Jackie will let you know what will succeed or what needs to be done to ensure success. Jackie has a strong sense of excellent, professional customer service and loyalty....you know....the way it used to be....and still is at Diamond Head Group!

 

 

Patti Almirez, Event Management and Public Relations Guru

 

Patti shines in all she does. Patti brings a wealth of experience in strategic communications, public relations, philanthropy, fundraising, volunteer management, event planning and production, and much more. Her warm personality brings vitality to your meeting or event, and she is the one to help craft your event to be just how you want it. 

 

Patti has nearly 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector working for such organizations as the Baltimore Dance Collaborative, The International Youth Foundation, HUMANIM, Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance, Assets School, and the Honolulu Academy of Arts.  The last ten years have been focused on events management, fund development, and public relations.  She brings a fresh approach to community engagement and outreach, and specializes in mobilizing stakeholders and volunteers for a common cause.

 

Patti has managed fundraisers for Assets School, Kapi’olani Health Foundation and Shriners Hospitals for Children – Honolulu to raise more than a million dollars in net proceeds through gala events and golf tournaments. She has managed statewide, nationwide, and international conferences for organizations throughout the world.

 

Like all the Diamond Head Group Dream Team members, Patti is also an artist and that creativity shows in all she does. A true team player, Patti will help make your event better than you ever dreamed of or imagined.
